  1. Hi Gerda,

Nice to see new work from you ! And Cyanotypes, in addition !
The blue shades and textures are very close of what I get. What ratio of Ferric Citrat/Ferrocyanide are you using ?

It's close, but my negatives aren't at the level of yours... The result is beautiful ! The angel is especially powerful.

    Best regards,

    Raphael

  2. Hi Raphael,
Thanks for the visit and the good feedback!
I made a recipe page look here http://alternativephotographicprocesses.blogspot.nl/p/cyanotype-recipes.html
I'm also searching for good blue and nice whites. Sometimes I succeed but not always.
Can I see some of your work?
    Best regards, Gerda

  3. Hi Gerda,

Thanks for the information and the recipe page.

About my work, I have a online gallery (a great name for a few photos, in fact ;)), but I just realized I haven't put cyanotypes on it yet. I have to scan some to show you.

This is a good envouragement to test my newly received flatbed scanner (the previous was destroyed by a power spike this fall). So, I will tell you when I have some cyano to see online.

Many thanks for your interest !

And new congratulations for the good images shown on your recent posts.

    Best regards,

    Raphael

  4. Hi Gerda,

See the "Camera photographia" gallery, and "Alternative processes" album..

  5. Hi Raphael,
I have viewed your gallery and there are really nice pictures!! Your blues are also beautiful. Love the orchid!
I'm starting to use tannic acid for different colors. Have you tried it already?

    All the best, Gerda

    1. Hi Gerda,

Many thanks for your visit and nice comments. The orchid is also one of my prefered, but I regret of not having it scanned earlier, since I have the impression that the lighter blue has faded in the flower highlights since I printed it months ago. Cyanotypes permanence seems to be somewhat related to the paper.

Use of tannic acid is also in my plans, but I don't know where to get it, at least in pure chemical form. Where do you get it ? Or do you simply use strong tea infusion ?

I read (I believe it's in the book of Jill Enfield) that Tartaric acid can be also used for toning, I have it handy, but haven't tried it yet.

      Best regards,

      Raphael

P.S : nice new works also (swans, etc). The blues are different !

  6. Hi Raphael,

Thank you for your feedback. When I looked again at my City swans I saw that the color wa so wrong.
There was something with my calibration I think. I have scanned the images again and now it is the right color of the cyanotype.
I shall upload some toned cyano's in the next days. Have you done more cyano lately?

    All the best, Gerda

  7. Hi Gerda,

I thought initially that this rather green color was caused by a specific formula or paper...
Much more coherent with your others cyanos colors.

I like your last works, and toned cyanotypes is definitively a thing I should test.

I should renew my stock of usable negative before making more cyanos, and I have in project to set up a 5x7 LF camera. It should make big nice negatives for alternative processes !

    Best regards,

    Raphael
